Season 3 of The Voice SA is filling up fast with Western Cape talent who is killing the nerve-wrecking Blind Auditions.
Coach Francois van Coke caught up fast in Episode 4 on Sunday night, adding three new singers to #TeamVanCoke to bring his tally up to a total of five.
#TeamRiana and #TeamRiky each gained one new singer and #TeamLira recruited two, leaving them all with eight members.
A 38-year-old musician and carpenter from Mossel Bay, Shane Sonkind, received a rare turn of the chair from all four coaches.
“I’m going to sing the best I can so that at least one chair turns for me,” he told his son, Ezra, before his audition.

“I’ve been making music for a long time. My son, Ezra, inspired me to be a musician as I needed to have flexible hours being a single parent.
“Ironically music gave me that opportunity. I say ironically because, stereotypically, the music world is not generally perceived as the most stable environment for a kid,” says Shane.
As always, coach Francois tried his level best to win Shane over, even showing off his tattoo and telling Shane that they were both born in 1980.
But Shane said he didn’t want to go with the “most obvious choice”, and instead joined #TeamRiana.
Shane admitted that he never watched an episode of The Voice SA before.
“Being met with that level of professionalism from the crew and staff was really enlightening.
“I had very little expectations as I never saw a single episode of The Voice SA, every step of the journey was fresh and unanticipated,” says Shane.
The Voice South Africa airs on M-Net 101 every Sunday at 5.30pm and is repeated on VUZU, Channel 116, on Mondays at 10pm.
