TUPAC Shakur got smoked took on a whole new meaning this week after Suge Knight revealed the late rapper’s friends rook’d his ashes.
It was die einste Knight who was with Tupac on the night he was shot and killed back in 1996.
Shakur, one of the most celebrated rappers with over 75 million records sold, died of respiratory failure in Las Vegas, Nevada, after suffering a collapsed lung four days earlier.
At the time he was being treated after receiving four bullet wounds on the night of September 7 as he was heading to a nightclub after attending the Mike Tyson-Bruce Sheldon boxing match in Las Vegas.
At an intersection on one of the most heavily traveled streets in the western gambling city, a white Cadillac pulled up next to the star’s black BMW.
One of the men in the Cadillac car opened fire. Shakur was taken to the hospital’s intensive care unit with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.
Knight, meanwhile, was discharged from the hospital the next day after suffering a minor wound to the head.
Almost three decades later, and Knight, 60, is innie mang after a fatal hit-and-run incident in 2015.
It’s from agter die tralies that he shared with People the craziest story of them all.
Knight explained that Tupac’s mom wanted the rapper’s body cremated immediately and after paying $1 million to help make this happen, he said: “I was so happy to say I was on probation - I couldn’t smoke. I told his mother ‘Moms, I’d love to, but if I hit that, I’ll get in trouble’.”
He added: “I was probably the only one who didn’t hit him.
“A bag with his ashes was passed around. His homies rolled him up. They smoked him.
“You gotta understand, that’s what made sense. It was symbolic. It’s like… you keep part of him.”
Knight, who was driving the car when Tupac got shot, said of that night in 1996: “I got out and tried to tell the officers what happened while I was bleeding everywhere.
“I then was getting Tupac out the car, even when the door was open. I had to go over there bleeding everywhere, take the seat belt off him.”
Tupac succumbed to his injuries on September 13. He was 25 years old.
