Another two Cape Town acts have made it to the next round of The Voice SA, and one of them is no stranger to South African TV screens.
Also in this week’s episode of the popular reality show, Riana Nel became the first coach to complete her team for Season 3, closely followed by Lira.
That means there are only two spots left to fill in the final Blind Auditions next week, one on #TeamRiky and one on #TeamVanCoke.
The competition is getting tighter every week, but Cape Town came out guns blazing on Sunday.
Many viewers received a pleasant surprise when Bonteheuwel twins Peter and John Talmarkes appeared.
We first got to know the talented duo in 2012, when they took part in SA’s Got Talent.
They were placed second runners-up in the show and were dubbed the PJ Twins.
On Sunday evening, the now 26-year-old boeties impressed the coaches with their perfect harmonies when they performed the All-4-One R&B classic I Swear.
They became the 12th act to complete #TeamLIRA as she literally turned her chair on their final note.
“Even though we love to challenge ourselves with singing across various genres, we naturally tend to lean towards Classical and R&B,” Peter tells the Daily Voice.
“The Blind Auditions show was a lot more difficult than we expected. We had prepared as well as we could.
“We knew that our only objective once on that stage was to get at least one coach to turn for us, if not all four.
“We felt immense pressure whilst performing, but we gave it our best and it was such a relief when one coach turned for us and it was one of the two coaches we had hoped for,” he says.
COACHES: Lira, Riana Nel, Francois van Coke and Riky Rick
Meanwhile, another Capetonian, 27-year-old Soné Joubert from Gordons Bay performed the Gian Groen song Vier Seisoene Kind, which saw all four coaches turn their chairs.
“Thank you very much, that was a beautiful experience,” an impressed Francois told her.
Sone told the coaches she wanted to make a difference in South African music, but especially in Afrikaans music, so it came as no surprise that she opted for #TeamRiana.
“Once I set foot on that stage I felt calm, I felt “this is where I belong”. It was an amazing experience to actually be standing on that stage,” she said.
“My blind audition felt like I finally understand why I was meant to sing.”
