In less than a month, Emo Adams will crown the first winner of his new talent search TV show, Maak My Famous.
In February, the show kicked off with 48 contestants, selected out of 6000 entrants.
With the grand finale now in sight on 11 July, there are seven talents vying for the title, four of them from Cape Town.
And they say they will fight tooth and nail for the grand prize - joining Cape Flats superstar Emo on a music tour for one whole year.
The Top 7 are singers Bernice van der Westhuizen, 18, from Swartruggens, Megan Danner, 20, from Potchefstroom, Cheswyn Ruiters 20, from Vredenheim Farm, Jesmoné Damonse, 29, from Stellenbosch, and speciality acts Rezah Forbes, 19, from Schaapkraal, The Arts Ensemble Trio aged 25 and 35, from Sasolburg, and The Unknown Dance crew, aged 21 to 26, from Ocean View.
Thursday night, the Top 7 will perform songs from the year they were born.
And in a surprise move, Emo is bringing in the US boy band All-4-One, and former Idols winner Sasha-Lee Davids, to perform their new song, called Africa Arise.
Maak My Famous is presented by gorgeous diva Tarryn Lamb and Emo, while coaches Nur Abrahams, Charlton Daniels and Allistair Izobel work their magic behind the scenes.
Nur says: “The time spent with these talents taught me a lot more than I thought I already knew.
“The growth I experience with them is very exciting and emotional. I feel like they are my own children.
“After starting off in February, these talents have grown rapidly and achieved a lot, this makes me excited to see the finale.”
Talent agent Ian Bredenkamp is offering the winner R100k worth of public relations.
“The level of talent is extraordinary and now as we get into the Top 7, you can see Cape Town is truly representing,” he says.
“I’m keen to see what happens with the winner. They’ll go on tour with Emo and they get signed to my PR agency for 12 months. We’re truly developing the talent on this show.”
