By now you must have heard the talk of the town that the first-ever Tygerberg RFC Family Picnic Day is happening on Sunday, 25 February.
And the Daily Voice is part of this kwaai event, which aims to raise funds for the rugby club’s sports facilities at Florida Park in Ravensmead.
If you’re a fan of local rugby and music, then this is one jol you don’t want to miss.
The fun day, to be held at Florida Park, features a line-up of top acts including Idols winner Paxton Fielies, rapper YoungstaCPT and bands The Rockets and Just Us.
Also featuring MC Stan Mars from Good Hope FM and DJ Clint Supreme.
We spoke to Paxton, who is excited about supporting a community event so close to her hometown of Bishop Lavis.
Paxton says: “I’m very privileged to perform at such a big event. It’s important for us as a community to help sustain our sporting resources.
“This event is to raise funds to upgrade Florida Park so that the youth and future generations will be able to benefit from this.
“People can get ready to be entertained by my famous Idols covers, I know they will definitely sing along and I’m sure there are some favourites.”
Paxton is counting down the days to the big jol, which will include a kiddies area with rides and jumping castles, food vendors and a beer garden.
Bring your picnic basket, bottled water, umbrellas and gazebos.
Tickets are R40 for kids and R90 for adults (kids under five enter free). Gates open at 10am on Sunday, 25 February.
Tickets are available from Computicket and at the gate.
The Daily Voice will also be giving away tickets over the next two weeks.
