The Cape Town branch of the world-renowned School of Rock is offering local teens the chance to be seen by American record label executives as part of a worldwide artist search called, Center Stage.
Singers aged 13-19 years old have until 30 June to submit a five-minute audition video.
The top 25 will be flown to Los Angeles to perform in front of Atlantic Records and Artist Partner Group (APG) executives at a private show.
They will also record songs at APG’s studios with professional sound engineers.
And in addition, 100 applicants that show promise as artists will receive a scholarship to a School of Rock camp of their choice.
Leigh Spaun, School of Rock marketing director, says: “School of Rock prides itself on taking students out of the lesson room and putting them on to the stage.
“South Africa has limited opportunities to expose up-and-coming musicians, and with this competition Center Stage gives talented artists the potential to reach their biggest audience yet.”
To enter, you can perform a song of your choice.
It can be an original or cover, but special consideration will go towards applicants performing original songs, says Spaun.
To upload your video, you need to visit the School of Rock website, at www.schoolofrock.com/centerstage and follow the instruction.
Who knows, you might just get your name on the Atlantic Records Group alongside stars like Kelly Clarkson, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Cardi B, Sia, Coldplay, Wiz Khalifa, David Guetta, Skrillex and Trey Songz.
