Your favourite aunty from Belgravia Road in Athlone is back for the holidays and she is ready to make you lag.
Aunty Merle The Musical makes a triumphant return to the Baxter Theatre for a third run, kicking off on Monday, 3 December.
The show which received rave reviews and enjoyed two sold-out seasons is the brainchild of Cape Flats comedian Marc Lottering and is directed by Lara Foot.
It came about as Marc celebrates 20 years in the entertainment industry, and he said it was time for Merle, one of his many on-stage personas, to have her own show.
The show boasts 14 actors, with Marc himself playing the lead role of Aunty Merle.
The musical has received four Fleur du Cap Theatre nominations and is back by public demand.
This season the show also welcomes a new actress to play the lead role of Merle’s daughter, Abigail.
Actress Tracey-Lee Oliver replaces Tarryn Lamb on the show and says she cannot wait to entertain Cape audiences.

The high drama unfolds in Belgravia Road when Abigail announces her engagement to her Bantry Bay berk Alan (Paul du Toit).
As Aunty Merle fondly reminds everyone: “He’s a good-looking white chap.”
But trouble brews in the form of Abigail’s skelme ex, Denver Paulse (Loukmaan Adams), who holds a dodgy top job with the SABC, and is determined to get her back.
If not, he threatens to reveal a very dark secret which is bound to tear the lovers apart.
From next Thursday, Aunty Merle will also be tackling all your niggling issues and questions in her weekly column in the Daily Voice.
