Hanover Park beauty Keegan-Lee “Apple” Croy was crowned First Princess in the Miss Mini Teen South Africa pageant over the weekend.
Keegan-Lee, 13, looked stunning in her pink ball gown with diamanté bust.
Proud Ouma Daphne Croy tells the Daily Voice: “We are all really proud of Keegan, she has grown into her craft and still continues to carry herself beautifully with kind manners and respect for others and herself.
“Keegan works very hard in what she does and went to Johannesburg on her own for the pageant where she stayed over at her friend’s and fellow pageant contestant’s family.”
The Miss Teen SA pageant has different categories including Miss Tiny Teen (9-10 years), Pre-Teen (11-12), Mini Teen (13-14), Petite Teen (15-16), Junior Teen (17-18) and Miss Teen SA (19-20).
The contestants competed in evening wear only and were judged on ramp and interviewing skills.
Keegan says even though she didn’t win, first princess is the next best thing: “It was close and everyone was really amazing at what they brought to the table.
“First Princess is still a major achievement,” the gracious teen says.
“I’m very proud of myself and also grateful for my grandparents for all their sacrifices.”
The Grade 8 Mount View High School pupil thanked everyone for the support.
“To my coach, Reana van Tonder, thank you for believing in me and pushing me. I hope to follow in the footsteps of Zozibini Tunzi, who was crowned Miss Universe last year,” said Keegan-Lee.
The pageant took place in Kempton Park, Johannesburg and Apple’s category was won by Natasche Daniels from Johannesburg.
