Cape Town’s stars came out to play with the kids on Youth Day on Saturday.
Over 120 children from Khanya Primary School in Mitchells Plain were kitted out for school by celebs like actors Chad Abrahams, Brendan Daniels and Jill Levenberg.
Party with a Purpose Productions (PPP) celebrated Youth Day with their annual Kit A Kid 4 School Winter Handover event.
PPP was formed in 2003 by Chad, who says he saw the need for this project and invited his actor friends and colleagues to join in.
The special kit contains a school rain jacket, beanie, gloves and a scarf.
Chad says: “A special thanks to the volunteers, donors, entertainers, organisations and schools for coming together in the spirit of community; with each other we are stronger.”
kykNET’s Suidooster star Jill Levenberg joined in on the fun activities for the kids.
“Party with a Purpose and KK4S are made up of artists and people who take the time to care. I’m proud to be associated with them, they need our support in helping communities tirelessly for so many years, they can reach many more children with your support,” says Jill.
KK4S has already assisted 5 000 learners across the Western Cape in areas including Delft, Lotus River, Bonteheuwel and Ravensmead, with brand-new school uniforms, winter kits and stationery.
Special talks are held for parents while kids enjoy educational games and workshops.
Board member John Goss said the event was a success.
“What a ripple effect this event had, it’s amazing! The magnificent entertainers and the workshops for the kids is something we cannot easily forget and definitely is a motivation to us to carry on with this service,” he says.
The project is funded through fundraisers held throughout the year and with the assistance of donors from small businesses, organisations and individuals with similar goals.
Performances on the day were by dance duo Sensation, social media singing sensation Talitha Luiters from Atlantis, Rebel Squad Breakdance group who also hosted a dance workshop, and Mitchells Plain rappers Rosey and Maám.
Actors Euodia Sampson and Noem My Skollie star Brendan Daniels also addressed the crowd.
The kids and parents were treated to lekker warme soup, rolls and akni and the kiddies also received fruit packs and party packets.
