Cape Town diva Salome Damon-Johansen is letting it all out in a two-hour solo production.

And the audience is guaranteed to laugh and cry.

The songbird is baring the highs and lows of her personal life in a thrilling introspective production at the Baxter Theatre from 20-23 March at 8 pm.

After the release of her latest single, titled Sure Fire last year, Salome felt the time was right for her to share her life story.

Depicting the various stages of Salome’s life, the production This Is Me will coincide with her 40th birthday the same month.

She says: “The concept of the show encompasses as many of my life experiences as possible.”

“I have dealt with many blows in my life and the testimonies of how I had the strength to get up.

“There were times I never had the strength to face all those storms and then, somehow, drugs seemed to be the better option. But, boy, did I learn the truth of the hardships of that decision.”

The depth of honesty in this production is not for the faint-hearted, warns the artist, “but come with the courage and boldness to be confronted with truth”.

Her story celebrates overcoming life’s curve balls, from drug addiction, to recovery, being gay and marrying her wife Rosie, and her mother’s death.

“Bring your tissues and prepare to laugh tot jou maag pyn.”

It is directed by Salome and Robin Pieters, with Donvino Prins as music director.

Tickets, at R150, available via Webtickets.
