It was haal uit en wys at the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate (LQP) at Kenilworth Racecourse at the weekend.
And local celebrities made sure to steal their share of the limelight at the annual racing event, now a two-day affair acknowledged as one of the best race days in the world.
The dress code for one of the biggest events on the social calendar was blue and white, with women “encouraged to wear a hat or fascinator”, according to a media release.
And while stiletto heels were “not recommended due to the terrain”, it was clear many women ignored this advice, opting to show off some leg in the perfect weather for a day at the races.
Among the celebs in attendance were former Miss SA and businesswoman Jo-Ann Strauss, comedian Siv Ngesi, KFM radio jock Tracey Lange, actress Nomzamo Mbatha, Miss SA Tamaryn Green, actress Lady Nam; and TV presenter Liezel van der Westhuizen.

Speaking to Mbatha on the premier horse racing event, the Isibaya star says: “This year’s Queen’s Plate is very interesting.
Obviously, the set-up is different from the other years that I’ve attended.”
A record 18 races were held during the third year of the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate Racing Festival, featuring the 158th Queen’s Plate.
The R1.5 million Grade 1 race saw Justin Snaith’s four-year-old Do It Again edge across the line.
Do It Again was purchased by John Freeman for R1.1 million at the 2016 National Yearling Sale.
