Luvé Meyer, 23, from Brackenfell, explains why she should be crowned Miss SA.

She says: “As a psychology graduate, I have learned so much about mental health and the ripple effect it has on people’s lives.

“I can add value with my skills to uplift, encourage and empower other people.

“As Miss SA, I will use these skills and values to actively work towards a future where our mental health is a priority and the necessary attention is given to it.”

Nkosazana Sibobosi, who is flying the flag for Khayelitsha, says she wants to change the status quo of the pageant.

The 24-year-old model says: “I know that thousands of young people of all social and racial backgrounds in our country are convinced that Miss SA cannot or should not look like me.

“I want to show that beauty, success, ambition and confidence are not dictated by where we are from, how we look or how we are perceived by the society.

“I want to be a symbol of hope and embody the beauty of our diversity.”
