The Yaardt party to raise funds for a little cancer sufferer het behoorlik geruk on Friday night when hundreds of people stieked uit for the worthy cause.
Yaardt 3 - Beats For Leah, which was held at the Rocklands Soccer Field Hall in Mitchells Plain was in aid of one-year-old Leah Singh, who has rhabdomyosarcoma (cancer in the ear).
Leah’s parents,Yvonne and Bran-Lee Singh, 30, from Malibu were emotional as they saw the turnout of people who came to support the event for their daughter.
The party was organised by Venecia Valentine and PJ Smith to help raise money for Leah’s hospital bills.
Venecia, who previously successfully hosted two yaardt parties at her home, says she is grateful to everyone who supported the event.
“I’m moved by the support and love received by all those who purchased a ticket and all the DJs - Clarence, Rolstoel, Portia, Killa B, Figaro, Luda Ash, Naeem and others in the entertainment industry who took part in the cause at no charge.”
Mom Yvonne said: “We are truly grateful for the help we got, words can’t express how we feel. We enjoyed the function and to the DJs and everyone who helped, thank you. My friends and family can’t stop talking about it. Everything was amazing.”
Dad Bran-Lee said: “The support we received and the vibe we felt on Friday night was on another level. That is truly how a community comes together.”
PJ Smith says: “People are already asking about the next one; that tells you what a success the event was.”
The Get It Entertainment crew were on hand to ensure the sound and lighting were reg, while mense came well prepared with their mini braai stands, camp chairs, dop and dominoes.
All proceeds went to the Singh family. Leah is currently receiving chemotherapy at Tygerberg Hospital.
