The Cape Spy team was invited to celebrate the birthday of one of Cape Town’s most loved club managers and hosts, Sidney Oliver.
Sidney, aka Uncle Sid, is the manager of West End in Rylands and turned 55 on Saturday.
In what has now become an annual tradition, hundreds of loyal patrons and close friends came to enjoy his birthday bash.
The club’s foyer was elegantly furnished and selected guests enjoyed drinks and finger food before the party started upstairs in the club.
Ronald Jones and his live band kept people entertained while they ate, drank and socialised.
The birthday boy looked snazzy in a navy blue suit as he welcomed guests.
“I’m honoured to have the love of all these people. I do this every year so it’s amazing to see how full the venue is every time I host this party,” said Uncle Sid.
“The Daily Voice has spent a good couple of years at this party with me and so I consider myself blessed to be recognised and loved by your newspaper as well.”
On the dance floor, the Joy For Jazz dance school showed off their fancy footwork before live band Sade Von S took to the stage to perform all the best jazz hits.
Guest drag diva Angel Lalamore said: “Sidney is loved by all and especially the LGBTI community whom he does do much for. May he go from strength to strength.”
People were still arriving in droves until well after midnight.
