International speaker Trent Shelton conquered hearts and minds in Cape Town on Friday.

The former American NFL player turned moti- vational speaker is in the country for his Love Yourself Tour, and on Friday appeared at the President Hotel where he addressed a packed venue.

Trent had the audience hanging onto every word as he spoke about the daily struggles mense face and how they can overcome them.

He says the reason why more than 50 million people see his videos on social media every week is because he speaks from the heart, he speaks from his own experiences and he doesn’t speak down to people.

During the seminar, he gave his audience exercises to do, asking some people to share their experiences.

There were plenty of tears as couples reached out to each other.

Among the audience was married couple Melissa and Jeffrey Joseph who were impressed with the social media sensation, who is also the founder of an organisation called It’s Rehab Time.

“Having seen him live is really amazing and we could take a lot of his teachings with us and apply it in our marriage and our individual lives,” the couple say.

Engaged couple Carlo Mentoor and Kaylean Adriaanse came all the way from Moorreesburg to see Trent.

“This is my second time attending his show. I was here in 2016 too and it taught me a lot. This year, too, was amazing,” said Kaylean.

Trent tells the Daily Voice the Mother City holds a special place in his heart.

“Besides the amazing beaches and scenery here, the people are amazing. They are open to learning new ideas and changing their mindset for the good,” he says.

Trent was invited to Cape Town by a local motivational speaker, Donovan Nelson, who says he once saw Trent in action during a seminar in Miami.

“I kept messaging him until he finally agreed to speak to me and now, he is here!”

The Love Yourself Tour is now off to Joburg for the next leg of his Mzansi tour.
