Die jol was propvol for Sidney Oliver’s birthday bash on Saturday at West End.
Sidney, aka Uncle Sid, is the current manager at the popular club in Athlone and celebrated his 53rd birthday with nearly 750 relatives and friends and his loyal patrons.
The night started off with a pre-party in the foyer with the RJ Band and lekker food and drinks.
Sidney looked smart in a black suit with a touch of purple in a flower pinned to his jacket.
The purple symbolises his support for the Epic Chauncy Davids Anti-Bullying campaign.
Chauncy, 14, from Mitchells Plain, passed away four years ago.
The teen would have been 19years old on 10 July, so his parents had a cake made in his honour and promoted his campaign as a birthday wish from Sidney.
“I, too, was bullied as a child and so I support the campaign and part of the proceeds of tonight goes to the Chauncy campaign,” said Uncle Sid.
Chauncey’s parents, Beverley and Llewellyn Davids, were amazed by the support.
“This is extremely overwhelming, Sidney wanted to celebrate Chauncey on his birthday and we really appreciate that,” said Llewellyn.
DJ Cool J and DJ Keith kept the mense dancing and the band Sade Von S held the fort on the live music side.
Cape Town’s favourite cabaret divas 3D gave a stunning performance, while Salome and Carmen Xclusive had everyone singing along to their old-school vibes.
Sidney was brought to tears by the turn-up.
“Five bags of gifts and all my friends and family in one place. My heart is full, thank you Cape Town for coming out to party with me,” he said.
