West End in Athlone took a trip down memory lane on Friday night when San Entertainment brought it’s Throwback To Love Tour to the club.
Artists Ernie Smith, Clint Brink, and the group Jamali alongside the Sequence band, and new kids on the block and Idols finalists Terra Cox and Bevin Samuels brought back the hits and memories of the ’80s and ’90s to remind you of those songs you grew up with.
Even though the venue wasn’t packed to capacity, the mense who came out to support were treated to a night of elegance and romance with songs by artists like Maxwell, SWV, Beyoncé and many others brought back to life.
Jamali’s Jacqui Carpede, Mariechan Luiters and Liesl Penniken who had a few hits from remakes had the crowd on their feet, while sexy Clint Brink was a hit with the ladies as he took to the stage in a well-cut, tight-fitting three-piece suit.
Actor Christo Davids was the emcee and had the crowd in stitches with his lekker sêgoed.
Fan Allister Plaatjies from Muizenberg was chuffed to meet Jamali.
“I always loved these girls, they were part of my tweenage years,” he says.
“I’m so excited to see them again after all these years.”
Gavin Govender and his friends came out to see Brink.
“Clint is a lekker performer, both on screen and on stage. We jumped at the opportunity when we heard he was gonna be here.”
