Idols SA 2005 winner Karin Kortje has gone bald and is proud of her new look.
The singer has shared a picture of her shaven head and spoke about her struggle to grow her hair after her favourite hairdresser and close friend, Leony Sonja de Wee, died of cancer in 2018.
Her close friends and fans praised her decision to take it all off.
Karin, 40, posted on Facebook: “They say change is good... Well I have decided to go bold, again.. Been struggling to grow my hair for almost 4years.. Ever since my dear friend Leony died... I would always joke about it or refer to it as my hair died with my hairdresser but inside i was not happy.. A woman’s hair is her pride and joy and not being able express that i felt so incomplete.. Embarrass at some stages and angry at my creator for this misfortune but NO MORE.. I FEEL RELIEF AND FREE!!!(sic)”
The mom of four says she shared her experience to inspire and motivate other women who are struggling with hair loss issues.
“I want to encourage those facing the same problem to stand bald and be proud of who you are... we are all beautifully made, hair does not define me anymore.”

She also thanked her boyfriend, Angelo Makka, writing: “Thank you Angelo for loving and allowing me to be myself and not a slave to my insecurities.
