People, winter is almost over and we all know what that means - it’s nearly time to crown our new Spring Queen!
Preliminary competitions are already underway and on Friday night, Sweet Orr and Lybro Textiles held their annual Spring Queen Pageant at the Oostenberg Lodge in Kuils River.
Cape Spy was there to capture all the glitz and glam of the evening.
Seventeen ladies dressed in their smartest gowns vied to be queen of this pageant, and are then automatically entered into the biggest pageant on the SA Clothing and Textile Workers’ Union calendar, which will be held in November this year.
Mense came out in support to cheer for their favourite contestant but there could only be one belle of the ball.
The title was clinched by 28-year-old mom of one, Lauren Boer, who looked breathtaking in a stunning black and white dress.
The first runner-up was Charne Solomons, 27, and second princess was Chardonay Erasmus, 21, who both wore elegant beige dresses.
The crowd favourite, aka Miss Personality, was Tasneem Charles, 19, while the coveted Best Dressed title went to Patricia Herdien, 29.
There was also a Junior Spring Queen for girls 13 to 16. Junior queen was Tamica Jones, 13, with Kayle Philander, 16, as first runner-up and Chester Julies, 16, as second princess.
But everyone agreed it was the Glamorous Grannies who had the most fun.
The Senior Queen wearing an African-themed ensemble was Elizabeth Waterboer, 52, first princess Naomi Johnson, 54, and second princess Safiyah Vigaro, 35.
