HOLLYWOOD stars and 80's kids all over the world are mourning the death of Malcolm-Jamal Warner.

The 54-year-old actor, who was best known for his role as Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, died after drowning off the coast of Costa Rica on Sunday.

Authorities said he was caught in a strong ocean current and his body was recovered that afternoon and formally identified by local officials.

Warner had been vacationing with his daughter at the time of the incident, according to sources who spoke to TMZ. His family has not issued a public statement.

Warner rose to fame in the 1980s as the wisecracking yet warm-hearted Theo on The Cosby Show, a role he played for all eight seasons from 1984 to 1992. He received an Emmy nomination in 1986 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

In the decades following the show’s success, Warner remained active in television, co-starring in popular sitcom Malcolm & Eddie from 1996 to 2000, opposite Eddie Griffin.

He also had numerous guest appearances across popular series and worked as a voice actor, famously voicing a character on The Magic School Bus.

Griffin lead the tributes, posting a solemn tribute alongside a photo of the two.

"My Big little Brother," he wrote, capturing the bond the two shared both on and off the screen.

Comedian Adam Sandler, who got his start in acting as one of Theo’s buddies in The Cosby Show, told reporters: “He was an hilarious, smart guy and meant so much to America.”

Screen queen Angela Bassett took to Instagram to add: "Malcolm was more than a gifted actor; he was a longtime friend.

“He carried the weight of cultural legacy with grace and he always made space for others to shine. His light will remain in our hearts always.”

Boxing legend Mike Tyson tweeted: “Sad to hear about Malcolm-Jamal Warner. RIP to someone that has filled our homes with so much joy.”

Basketball hero Earvin “Magic” Johnson posted: “Every time I ran into Malcolm, we would have deep and fun conversations about basketball, life, and business. He will truly be missed.”

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center said: “The King Center mourns the tragic passing of our dear friend, #MalcolmJamalWarner.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Malcolm’s family during this very difficult time.”

His disgraced TV dad Bill Cosby told ABC: “He was always a great studier, and I enjoyed working with him very much.”

There were countless tributes from fans who grew up watching The Cosby Show.

Other stars also paid their respects, including Tracee Ellis Ross, Martin Lawrence, Beyonce, Jamie Foxx, Anita Baker, Vivica A. Fox, Viola Davis, Kelly Rowland, Taraji P. Henson, Regina King, Sherri Shepherd, Jennifer Hudson and Ciara.
