It's South African National Beer Day on Saturday, February 1 and beer lovers are spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing where to mark the fourth annual event that celebrates Mzansi's favourite dop.
Big breweries, craft breweries, smokkies, bars and liquor stores around the Cape are hosting events from beer pong to beer brewing, party busses to bottomless bier and lekker live entertainment.

To enjoy a lekker dop en chop with good company here’s where you can go celebrate SA National Beer Day:
Banana Jam Cafe
Banana Jam will collaborate with Ukhamba Beerworx to brew a traditional umqombothi on the fire.
Join the fun from 2pm for the brew and chat to the brewsters (female brewers) to find out more about this traditional African beer.
There will be umqombothi to taste as well as 30+ taps pouring craft beer, including some new brews from their in-house brewery, Afro Caribbean. Bookings recommended!

Stellenbosch Brewing Company
Last year we had over 100 people brewing with us throughout the day and got their name and signature grafitti'd onto the beer label! We are brewing something quintessentially South African and there will be some non-beer alternatives on tap.

Woodstock Brewery
Celebrate South African National Beer Day with us - Small Batch Beers, Tasty Food and Live Music.
We are also a part of the Woodstock Wander – grab a passport, buy a beer at each of the four participating breweries and get a free pint when you complete your passport!

Helderberg Homebrew Club Brewday at Red Sky
Partnering with Red Sky Brew we will also be launching the new Malt King - Home Brewing System. We will be brewing up a storm alongside Helderberg Homebrewers Club so make sure to stop in for a pint or 2.

Soul Barrel Brewing
To celebrate South Africa’s beer we’re collaborating with @brewsterscraft and brewing a batch of traditional umqombhoti that will then be aged in a French oak barrel for a secondary fermentation with Soul Barrel’s mixed yeast culture.
There will also be umqombothi tastings available and Brewster’s Craft sorghum pilsner, along with all of Soul Barrel’s hoppy and wild fermented beers. Will be a fun way to celebrate the bringing together of two incredible brewing cultures.

We will have bottomless beer on ALL of our local taps from 3pm - 7pm.
Included in those local taps are our selection of local ciders and other sweet things for the non-beer lovers.
To keep you entertained we will have an awesome line-up of our favourite local artists from 2:30pm until 8pm and DJ's from 8pm until late.

Triggerfish Brewing in Somerset West will be releasing two new beers for #SANBeerDay and will be offering a special pairing in our taproom.
We have up to 22 beers on tap, a full menu, we are child and dog-friendly. Open 11am- 9pm.

Cape Brewing Company
CBC will be offering a 25% discount on full cases purchased at the tasting room at Spice Route on 1 February AND 2 February for #SANBeerDay 2020.
On top there will be FREE brewery tours with the brewmaster on Saturday 1 February at CBC.

Saggy Stone Brewing Company
Saggy Stone will be launching the Citra Nova 2020 on National Beer Day at the pub in Robertson with a Brewers Bring and Braai Day from 4pm till 9pm.
We have 5 dedicated braai sites which can be booked ahead of time (R200 per site includes wood). The brewing team will be braaing.
Lots of space to bring picnic blankets and umbrellas – live music will be provided as well.
There will be 4 kegs of Citra Nova for tasters and drinking (no charge) but a cash bar will also be available with all our beers, gin & tonic, Brandy & ginger ale, Rum & Cider on tap.
