Real Madrid are looking to hijack Manchester United’s world-record chase for Paul Pogba.
Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane confirmed that the European champions are still in the hunt for the £110m-rated player.
The 23-year-old midfielder is the number one target for former team United, who are, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, prepared to meet Juve’s asking price.
But there are now reports that Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola is fighting for a bigger cut from the deal and has cancelled a proposed medical with the Red Devils.
Zidane has made it clear that he wants to bring his fellow Frenchman to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Asked about Pogba, Zizou says: “Until August 31 anything can happen but Paul Pogba is not yet a Real Madrid player.
“Every club is interested in Pogba because he is a great player. More so when you are Real Madrid because you always want the best.
“But we have to respect the player, he belongs to Juventus.”
Pogba left United four years ago to join Juve as a free agent and the France international is contracted to the Italian champions until June 2019.
