Yaya Toure returned to Manchester City’s ranks with a bang — scoring both goals in their 2-1 win at Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The Ivorian has been overlooked by coach Pep Guardiola because of a feud between the boss and Yaya’s agent.
And after a public apology, Toure repaid Guardiola’s faith with a 39th-minute run and shot and, after Connor Wickham had equalised in the second half, netted an 83rd-minute winner.
After a three-month stand-off at the club, Toure sounded emotional as he spoke of being applauded back into the dressing room by teammates.
He says: “They have always been brilliant with me, always supportive. I always want to be there to help them. I am professional, I always want to improve my game. I was prepared mentally and I knew that one day [Pep] would need me.”
