Western Province will go all out to disrupt the Blue Bulls’ line out in Saturday’s Currie Cup semifinal at Loftus.
Bulls duo RG Snyman and Marvin Orie have ruled the roost in this set piece throughout the tournament, with the former having taken the most number of catches (36) and the latter taking 26.
And with JD Schickerling, who contests well, back in their squad, there is a feeling that if Province can disrupt the Bulls’ lineout, they can somehow
lessen the threat of the hosts.
Looseforward Kobus van Dyk explains: “We’re going to go hard at their balls.
“If we can contest their line out possession well, we can take a lot away from their attack.
“And I think we have a pretty good chance.”
The WP rookie, who started out as a Maties koshuis rugby player and also won the Most Promising Forward at the union’s prize-giving, knows the margin for error in a crunch match likes this is small and adds: “[At this level], you can’t make mistakes.
“In every single position [the players are] good.
“The teams that get the small things right, those are the teams that win the big games.”
Coach John Dobson, who will have Bok hooker Bongi Mbonambi back, will announce his squad for the match today.
