Police have launched an investigation after the charred remains of a woman were found dumped in a bush in Mitchells Plain.
The body of the unknown woman was discovered on a field between Metropolitan and Bentley Street, in Beacon Valley, yesterday afternoon.
Several families rushed to the scene wanting to see if it’s their missing loved one.
“The body was burnt beyond recognition, you couldn’t even make out the clothing,” an eyewitness said.
Cops said they received an anonymous tip-off about the body.
Captain Frederick van Wyk says a murder case was opened for investigation.
“Upon the members’ arrival, they discovered an unknown body burnt beyond recognition,” he says.
“A murder case docket was opened for investigation.
“At this stage no arrests have been made and the investigation is still ongoing,” he adds.
