Daine Klate believes that things will be tougher for Wits now that they have picked the first silverware of the season because clubs will be targeting them.
The Students put in a brilliant performance to blitz Mamelodi Sundowns 3-0 in Saturday’s MTN8 final.
The 31-year-old winger turned second striker scored a brace and has warned his teammates that they will now be targeted.
He says: “We’ve got the monkey off our back. Now that we have won the first trophy, we will try and use this momentum to build a strong winning mentality.”
Clever Boys coach Gavin Hunt hailed Klate, saying: “Daine has been a fantastic servant.
“I don’t think that he gets the accolades he deserves in this game. This was his 13th final. He has won so many league titles.
“He should have had way more Bafana Bafana caps than he currently has. If you want a left-side player, you aren’t going to get any better.”
