Two suspects have been arrested with a stash of guns including an AK47.
Police also confiscated credit card cloning devices, a zip gun, a laptop computer and a police issue raincoat.
Police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut says: “During the early hours of [yesterday] morning an intelligence-driven operation by members of the Winelands Cluster Crime Prevention Unit resulted in the arrest of two suspects aged 27 and 29 years for illegal possession of an AK47 assault rifle with ammunition in Mbekweni.
“The execution of our search warrant also led to the seizure of a credit card cloning devices, a zip gun, a laptop computer and a police issue raincoat and reflector jacket.”
Once charged, the suspects are due to make a court appearance in Paarl on the charges against them.
The arrest follows after cops nabbed six suspects between the ages of 25 and 43 for house robbery on a Wellington farm on Tuesday. They fled the scene in a vehicle with personal property, cellular telephones, laptops and a rifle with ammunition.
They were later arrested at a house in Paarl.
