America could be plunged into a civil war by Christmas after Donald Trump refused to say whether he would accept a loss at the presidential polls next month.
“I would like to promise and pledge to all of my voters and supporters and to all of the people of the United States that I will totally accept the results of this great and historic presidential election, if I win, Trump told supporters here in his first comments since the final debate.
“I will look at it at the time,” Trump said and, “I will keep you in suspense.”
Trump’s response shocked America and his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton, who replied: “That’s horrifying.”
Analysts say Trump’s potential refusal might trigger “a historic confrontation”, alluding to a civil war along racial lines.
