Naushad Deshmukh hasn't been seen since October 31

Naushad Deshmukh was allegedly kidnapped outside of his Athlone business a month ago.

A Cape Flats businessman who was allegedly kidnapped is still missing.

Naushad Deshmukh, 46, the owner of clothing store Khans in Athlone, was taken in front of his business by armed men a month ago.

Days after he disappeared, the Constantia resident was believed to have called home to say his “kidnappers” wanted £20 million (R335m).

Yesterday, police said there has been no movement on the case, which is still under investigation.

Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana says: “Kindly be advised that there are no new developments to report.”

Naushad’s family are not speaking to the media at all.

However, sources close to the investigation say there is a deep concern that the kidnappers are pushing the family to a point where they will do anything to get him back.

The source says: “We do not know what has happened since the ransom call. He has not called again and there has been no communication with the family.”

Police sources have revealed that the case is sensitive and has been handed over to the directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (the Hawks).

Naushad was taken from outside his shop in Haji Ebrahim Crescent, Athlone, on Monday, 31 October, while he was locking up for the day.

A 51-year old employee told cops the robbers took her bag, and Naushad was loaded into a white double cab bakkie.
