Suspect crashes car after trying to evade cops.

A 27-year-old man landed up in hospital after he was caught with a toy gun and dagga.

Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk says Strand SAPS responded to a shooting incident in Broadlands Park, Strand, at about 11pm on Thursday when they noticed a suspicious VW Golf driving with its lights off.

While the driver tried to evade the cops, he lost control of his vehicle and overturned on the old Sir Lowry’s Pass road.

“The driver, a 27-year-old male, was found unconscious, lying in front of the vehicle,” says Van Wyk.

The injured suspect was taken to hospital and is due to appear in court soon on charges of possession of dagga, reckless and or negligent driving and the possession of a replica firearm.
