Eric Tinkler knows another tough task awaits his Cape Town City side when they take on high-flying Wits in the first leg of the semifinals of the MTN8 on Saturday night (kickoff 8.15pm).
Wits have started the season like a house on fire, with victories over Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
And City coach Tinkler is hoping that his side can return to Cape Town with an away goal for the September 17 return leg.
He says: “It’ll be really tough against Wits.
“Wits are up there in the running for the title this season. They’ve been there and thereabouts for the last few seasons and I think they will be among the main candidates for the title come the end of the campaign.
“But our aim is just to go into the game with a positive attitude and approach.
“Most importantly, we want to try to, at least, get an away goal that we can bring down to Cape Town for the second leg, to give us something to defend.”
With centreback Robyn Johannes ruled out by injury, Tinkler is looking to rearrange his defence.
He adds: “We have options.
“We’ve got the youngster, Ebrahim Seedat, who I think is a fantastic talent and, with Aubrey Modiba sold, we were able to take SuperSport’s Thato Mokeke on loan. He can also play leftback. I haven’t decided yet.”
