Three shot in gang attacks

KILLED: Cassiem Samsodien

Two men died and another was wounded in alleged gang-related shootings.

At least three people have been shot and wounded in Lavender Hill in suspected gang-related attacks.

On Thursday, a 22-year-old man was shot dead and a 45-year-old wounded in the area.

Constable Noloyiso Rwexana says no one was arrested.

“At 2.10pm, a 22-year-old was shot and fatally wounded and 45-year-old was wounded.

“No one has been arrested at this stage,” she says.

Meanwhile, yesterday morning a 30-year-old suspected gangster was shot dead in Kappel Street, also in Lavender Hill.

Cassiem Samsodien was shot multiple times, including in his head, in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Police sources say Samsodien was gunned down in a feud between the Fast Guns and Mongrels gangs.

“The victim was shot in his head, he is a (member of the) Fast Guns,” the cop says.

Rwexana says the suspects are still at large.

“(Yesterday) at 4.50am police attended to a scene at Kappel Street, Lavender Hill and found a 30-year-old man with gunshot wound to his head.

“No one has been arrested at this stage,” Rwexana says.
