WARNING: Donald Trump

Popular animation series predicts Trump's presidency.

The Simpsons are nogal slimkoppe.

The creator of the animated series predicted that Donald Trump would be US president 16 years ago as a joke.

In an episode from 2000, Bart to the Future, Lisa Simpson takes over as US President and says: “We’ve inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump. How bad does it get?”

A later clip called Trumptastic Voyage shows the billionaire businessman take the stand with a sign saying: “America, you can be my ex-wife.”

The cartoon’s creator, Matt Groening, said on Wednesday: “Trump was of course the most absurd placeholder joke name that we could think of at the time, and that’s still true. It’s beyond satire.”

Dan Greaney, a writer for the Simpsons, said the clip had a dark message behind it.

“It was a warning to America. That just seemed like the logical last stop before hitting bottom,” he said.
