Allister Coetzee has called up a string of new guys to put the spring back into the Springboks.
Coetzee finally rewarded inside centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg with his first cap after most of the country called for the 22-year-old Lion’s inclusion.
Bulls wing Jamba Ulengo is another fresh face in the backline, replacing veteran Bryan Habana, with Cheetahs flanker Uzair Cassiem making his debut, taking over from No.7 Willem Alberts, who failed a fitness test.
On the bench, loosie Jean-Luc du Preez is another possible debutant after a superb domestic year with the Sharks.
The new backline, which also welcomes back Lions duo Faf de Klerk and Elton Jantjies at halfback is the least experienced since 1994.
Of his selections, Coetzee says: “We have a less experienced team, but I want to see some energy and an improved performance.
“Our selection is also keeping in mind the process and necessity to build towards 2019.”
