A 14-year-old boy has been killed during a suspected gang shootout.
The teen was at a tuck shop near his home in Jakaranda Street, Uitsig, when he was hit in his chest and died on the scene on Saturday afternoon.
It is believed the teen, whose family refused to divulge any personal details, was caught in the crossfire.
Yesterday the teen’s mother said she was not ready to speak to the media.
Police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana says no one has been arrested for the killing.
“A 14-year-old boy was fatally wounded at about 2.15pm in Jakaranda Street, Uitsig, Ravensmead,” Rwexana says.
“A case of murder is under investigation.
“No one has been arrested at this stage.
