CapeTown City are confident that they can beat Free State Stars and reach the Telkom Knockout final.
Eric Tinkler and his high-flying team come into tomorrow’s clash at Athlone Stadium second in the PSL and on a six-match winning streak (kickoff 3.30pm).
But while they are upbeat about their chances, they are wary of Ea Lla Koto, who have beaten Wits and Kaizer Chiefs en route to the showdown.
And Tinkler has warned his team, who made the MTN8 final four, to keep their focus against a side who he believes are going all out for the top prize.
He says: “It’s fantastic to get to this stage of the competition. Another semifinal, it’s a great to chance to get to the final.
“I told the players that we needed to win our last game [a 3-2 win over Maritzburg on Tuesday] to boost the belief ahead of this game and we are coming off a good run in the league.
“But Stars are giving more importance to the Cup after resting five players in their last game.”
City skipper Lebo Manyama is one fire, scoring four goals in as many games, but knows the dangers of being over-confident.
He says: “We are playing a team that’s last on the log. But league form means nothing now. They beat Wits and Chiefs to be here, when they were on form.
“So we have to give them the respect that they deserve.”
