Springbok Sevens coach gets four years

COACH: Neil Powell

Powell out to raise the Blitzboks' level.

Blitzbok coach Neil Powell is looking for another shot at glory after their Olympic Sevens disappointment.

SA Rugby yesterday announced the 38-year-old for a four-year term.

And his first assignment since leading South African to bronze in Rio will be when the World Sevens Series kicks off in Dubai on December 2, before the Cape Town Sevens on December 10-11.

Powell says: “It’s a massive privilege and honour for me to coach the Springbok Sevens team as I’m passionate about the game and our country.

“I can’t wait to get stuck in as we aim to raise the bar even further this season.”

The Blitzboks began training in Stellenbosch this week for their Pool B clashes with USA, Scotland and Uganda in Dubai.
