The next generation of Western Province talent will get a baptism of fire in the Currie Cup opening week this weekend.
There are six U21 players in the match-day squad to face the Blue Bulls in a north-south derby at Loftus Versfeld tonight (5.10pm).
Wings Leolin Zas and Khanyo Ngcukana, centre Daniel du Plessis, loose forward Jacques Vermeulen, lock JD Schickerling and utility replacement back Brandon Thomson are all still eligible for the youth team.
But coach John Dobson is positive that the youngsters will put up their hands.
And he is confident in the older heads around them will provide guidance.
He says: “This team certainly does not lack talent or enthusiasm, and although we have not had a lot of time together as a group, we are excited about taking on this challenge.
“It is a relatively young side, but we have got experienced players in key positions and they will hopefully provide some guidance for the considerable young talent we will have out there.”
