SYMPATHETIC: Siya Kolisi

Siya feels for Boks as SA sides get cut

The guys at the South African Rugby Union (Saru) will sit today to confirm the participants in next year’s Super Rugby tournament.

With South Africa having to cut two teams, it is expected that the Kings and the Cheetahs will be the spanne out in the cold.

Rumours have it that the two axed teams might join the Pro12 in the UK.

Still it hasn’t been easy on the players as uncertainty around their futures will surely be worrying.

And while the Stormers shouldn’t be affected by today’s decision, captain Siya Kolisi admits that it has had an impact on the players.

Heading into tomorrow’s clash against the Sunwolves at Newlands (7.30pm), Kolisi says: “It is [tough on the players] especially if you’re at the Springbok camp and you kind of know which unions are going to be taken away.

“You can imagine waking up and being told you don’t have a job or you’re not going to play Super Rugby.

“But I’m hoping that there are other plans made for them and hopefully it works out…”
