TRAINING: Dale Steyn smaaks a comeback

Steyn, 33, has been out with a shoulder injury since November and says he is planning to join up with the SA “A” tour to England next month.

The Phalaborwa Express will have two matches to prove he’s ready, as the Proteas face England in a ODI series ahead of the ICC tournament.

He tells SuperSport: “My rehab is going well. I have done deep training for a month or so.

“I am running fit and planning to go on the South Africa ‘A’ trip in June.”

Should Steyn not be up to speed, he’s next target will the Proteas’ four-match Test series against England after the tournament.

The fast bowler needs four Test wickets to reach 421 to be level with former paceman Shaun Pollock as the leading South African wicket-taker in five-dayers.
