Scarra returns to game

BACK: Yster Scarra

Western Province hooker Scarra Ntubeni will make his first appearance for the Streeptruie this year when they kick off their Currie Cup campaign at the Free State Cheetahs on Sunday (2.30pm).

Ntubeni, 26, missed the entire Super Rugby season this year after being stretchered off in a Currie Cup clash at Newlands against the Sharks last year.

And having undergone surgery to his Achilles, coach John Dobson says Ntubeni is ready to go again.

With Bongi Mbonambi struggling at lineout time, and possibly being involved with the Springboks, the return to fitness of Ntubeni is a timely boost for WP.

With Ramone Samuels also available, it’s still not sure whether Ntubeni will start  but Dobbo reveals that he will play., saying: “He’s definitely in the mix for this weekend.

“He’s worked really, really hard and we’re excited to see him go.”

WP have not yet announced their captain for the new season and there is even talk that the returning Ntubeni will skipper the side as they look to win the trophy they last won in 2014.
