Rabada bags four as Proteas get mojo back

CLASS: Kagiso Rabada, right

Parnell also showed massive improvement from the first ODI.

Big players deliver on the big stage and that is exactly what Kagiso Rabada did yesterday with a return of 4/39 which helped the Proteas to a seven-wicket victory over England at Lord’s.

The young speedster has not been at his best since landing in England for the three-match ODI series, but at the famous ground he did more than step up by claiming the wickets of Jason Roy, Alex Hales, Jos Buttler and Adil Rashid in his first three overs.

Wayne Parnell also showed massive improvement from the first ODI as he finished with bowling figures of 3/43.

Due to Parnell and Rabada’s impressive spells, Morne Morkel and Chris Morris only bowled four overs each with neither getting a wicket.

Morkel, though, did a decent job by finishing his short spell with an economy rate of 3.75.

Spinner Keshav Maharaj wrapped up the English innings for 153, which was reached by JP Duminy (28*) who scored the winning runs after Hashim Amla (55) and Quinton de Kock’s (34) opening stand of 95.

Despite the win, though, the Proteas lost the series 2-1 but that can quickly be forgotten if they win the ICC Champions Trophy which kicks off this weekend.
