Ryan Giggs is on the brink of bringing to an end his 29 years at Manchester United with the Welshman, yet to be contacted by new boss Jose Mourinho.
Giggs, who is currently on an extended holiday in Dubai, is set to lose his position as assistant manager at Old Trafford with Jose set to appoint Rui Faria and Silvino Louro as his main manne.
While the Portuguese is keen to keep hold of Giggs as a member of his backroom staff due to the former winger’s intimate knowledge of the club, the 42-year-old has not yet been contacted over his position.
Giggs was assistant manager to Louis van Gaal for the past two seasons, but the likely arrival of Faria could demote him from a position as Mourinho’s right-hand man to acting as a liaison between the first team and youth academy.
United’s record appearance maker is said to not be keen on taking on less responsibilities, and the 13-time Premier League winner is reportedly annoyed at the lack of communication since the end of the season.
With fears that the club legend could quit the Red Devils after spending his entire playing and coaching career at the club, a move into management is looking increasingly likely.
Giggs would follow a well-trodden path into the dugout by those to have played under Alex Ferguson, and there have been mixed results among those to have made the transition.
