After their record 60-21 quarterfinal defeat to the Chiefs at Newlands on Saturday, Stormers boss Robbie Fleck knows he has a lot of hard work to do.
While interim coach Fleck still needs “knuckle [his] position down with the director of rugby (Gert Smal) and CEO (Paul Zacks)”, he says he would like to travel to England to get some help from the likes of Eddie Jones, who he worked with for a while at the start of the season.
Fleck explains: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the experience [of being head coach this year], it’s been a fantastic campaign on and off the field.
“I think I’ve learnt more in this week than I ever have as a coach - analysing the Chiefs and going up against a quality side and quality coaching staff. For me it’s been a fantastic experience.
“Obviously [the result] will be a tough one to swallow. We all realise that we’re a fair bit off where we need to be.”
He adds: “I would like to go and visit Eddie [Jones] overseas and several other coaches and try and close that gap.
“For me it’s all about trying to get as much information and learn as much as I can.”
