Flyhalf Jantjies was at his maverick best as he pulled the strings in the 51-14 derby win over the Bulls on Saturday and the 26-year-old looks set to be Allister Coetzee’s No.1 this season.
Ackermann says: “I’m very biased. I always said Elton [Jantjies] has got what it takes to play at the highest level. He showed [against the Bulls] that his goal kicking was phenomenal [ensuring the tries were converted and ticking the scoreboard over].
“He plays with confidence and freedom and if he is given that platform.
“And if the players around him can understand him, then he can be the type of player to match Beauden [Barrett], in terms of execution and decision making.”
