Three Stormers players were among those released by the Springbok camp to play for the SA “A” team in their first encounter against the England Saxons in Bloemfontein tomorrow (7.10pm).

Hooker Scarra Ntubeni, looseforward Sikhumbuzo Notshe and scrumhalf Nic Groom, as well as Sharks flyhalf Garth April will join Oupa Mohoje and the rest of Johan Ackermann’s charges, but will rejoin the Bok squad on Saturday ahead of their Test against Ireland at Newlands.

The release of Ntubeni leaves his Stormers teammate Bongi Mbonambi in line to make his Springbok debut off the bench.

Scrumhalf Faf de Klerk is another player who might make his debut this weekend, with Rudy Paige being the only other scrumhalf left in the camp after Groom’s departure.

April, meanwhile, was always expected to strut his stuff for the “A” team, but this indicates that coach Allister Coetzee is certain that Elton Jantjies will be ready for action.
