Two siblings were lucky to escape after a car crashed into their home.

Two sisters are lucky to be alive after a speeding car crashed into their bedroom in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Relatives say the sissies, aged 27 and 13 years old, were fast asleep when the driver of a silver Opel Astra lost control of the car and crashed into their Khayelitsha house, coming to a stop “inches from their heads”.

The accident occurred shortly after 5am in TR Section, in Site B.

The girls were injured after bricks from their house fell on them.

Their aunt, Noluvuyo Gebe, 43, say the two were alone in the house when the accident happened.

“We got a call from them to tell us a car had crashed into the house and we immediately rushed over,” she says.

“The car veered off the road somehow, drove through the vibracrete wall and then crashed into their bed, stopping inches away from their heads.

“Had they had not jumped up in time, their heads would have been crushed under that car.

“Luckily their injuries were as a result of bricks falling on top of them, we took them to hospital and there were no major injuries.

“We are grateful they survived but the house isn’t so good. The owner of the car promised to give money for material so that the house can be fixed,” she added.

Gebe says police arrived but didn’t take any statements.

Police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana says Site B police station had no record of the accident.
