Ibra retires from national team

Sweden’s captain Zlatan Ibrahimovic will quit the national team as soon as they are knocked out of Euro 2016.

The 34-year-old will say goodbye having left an indelible mark on Swedish football: his nation’s |all-time top scorer with 62 goals in 115 internationals, many of them |spectacular.

Ibra had a chance to go to the Olympics next month, but will call it quits sooner.

Madrid wants Morata back

Real Madrid have activated a buy-back clause to take Spain striker Alvaro Morata back to the Bernabeu from Juventus, the European champions announced on Tuesday.

Morata, who came through the ranks at Real, was sold to Juve two years ago, and scored 12 goals for the Italians last season, helping them secure a Serie A and Coppa Italia double.

Morata had previously expressed a desire to return to his boyhood club.

But media reports suggest Real are hoping to make a quick profit by immediately selling the forward to an English club, possibly Arsenal or Chelsea.

Dortmund star eyes United move

Manchester United have stepped up their chase of Borussia Dortmund ace Henrikh Mkhitaryan with a £26million bid.

Mkhitaryan and his agent Mino Raiola are keen to push a move through and want Dortmund to consider the sale.

He notched up 23 goals and 32 assists in all competitions for Dortmund, around four times as many as the previous season.

Speaking to Bild, Raiola says: “Even though it does not look like it right now, I still hope for a sensible solution. Manchester are Micki’s dream club…”
