A Nigerian man will appear in court on Monday after being arrested for possession of foreign geld, drugs and suspected stolen property worth nearly R2 million.
Hawks spokesperson Lieutenant Lloyd Ramovha says members of the unit swooped on the 43-year-old suspect in Cape Town CBD on Wednesday.
According to Ramovha, members busy with an undercover operation stopped and searched the suspect’s car after an alleged transaction on the corners of Adderley and Riebeeck Street.
Ramovha says: “Several sachets of methamphetamine [tik] as well as Mandrax tablets were found concealed in packets of biscuits.”
Cops also seized cocaine and dagga as well as American dollars, Nira and Rands worth R500 000. Several brand new |cellphones were allegedly found the |suspect’s house in Heathfield.
“Two vehicles belonging to the suspect also formed part of the haul, bringing the total value to approximately R2 million,” adds Ramovha.
The suspect will appear in Cape Town Magistrates’ Court on charges of dealing in drugs and possession of suspected stolen property.
