Everyone is smiling after a radio station successfully campaigned to help homeless people have a warme place to sleep this winter.
The Smile 90.4FM breakfast show set a target of 9 040 beds at a donation of R12 each for the Haven night shelters, but they exceeded their target within one day.
Smile Breakfast host and Daily Voice columnist Bobby Brown says they were really amazed by the support.
“When we initially started planning this we were torn between setting a target of 904 and 9 040 because we thought 9 040 was too ambitious and it’s the first time we were doing this,” Bobby says.
But they kept on raising the stakes and by Friday, they raised enough money for a whopping 59 040 beds.
Bobby says listeners really opened their hearts and their wallets.
